Three-coat stucco for a Chula Vista ADU

AWC added lath and a three-coat stucco system with integrated color to an ADU in Chula Vista. The project record connects the lath stage with the finished exterior.

Starting point

The ADU needed its exterior stucco. This was a new stucco assembly for the building, with a broader scope than a localized patch or a coating over an existing finish.

Work documented

AWC's project notes identify installed lath and a three-coat stucco system with integrated color. The accompanying construction photograph shows the lath in place; the completed-work photograph shows the light-colored stucco exterior.

Finished exterior

The finished photograph shown here belongs to the same ADU documented in AWC's project record. It shows the completed exterior surface and the finish around the building's openings and corners.

Why the scope matters

A new stucco assembly, a repair patch, and a broader recoat change different parts of a wall. Before comparing proposals, establish which layers are included and whether the finish uses integrated color or a separate coating. For an existing building, the surrounding wall's condition also needs to be reviewed.
